Who is this guy?
With a degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY ('95) , I have spent my entire professional career writing and developing applications for the Web. This has meant learning HTTP, HTML, XML, XPath, JavaScript, VBScript, PHP and SQL entirely out of self-defense. Along the way, I've dabbled in IIS and Apache administration, Perl, Java, PhotoShop and Flash.
But what I really want to do, is write the Great American Novel. Or the Good, Northeastern Novel. Hell, the Above Average, Western New York Novel. I have a couple or three half-baked (quarter-baked?) ideas about what that could be. Until I actually get the time and discipline to develop them, I rely on my buddy Frank's site to keep me up to date on important literature and pop culture.
In my current possition as Applications Analyst at Moog Inc in East Aurora, NY , I tirelessly evangelize for anything open, flexible and/or disruptive RSS, SOA, SaaS, Web 2.0, you name it. Like anyone who ever suffered through sorting tables on the server side, I started doing Ajax way before it was cool. Not well, maybe, and of course not under the name of Ajax, but still.
What's he up to?
In my spare time, I have worked on a few, fun projects:
- Suckloud.com for the metal band, Darkling, starting in 2004 and still fiddling with, occasionally
- a site for Engage another friend's band
- overhauling a site for Papa Leo's Pizza in Lockport, NY
- some initial, graphic design and HTML for Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center
I use HostDog.net exclusively for all of my personal projects, including this site. I have never found a better price comparable features PHP, MySQL, FrontPage etc. not to mention, dedicated customer service. Moog keeps me pretty busy and pretty well compensated but, if you need help with an interesting Web project, especially if I know you from somewhere, drop me a line and we can talk.
What else?
- My wife, Heidi has some interesting stuff on her site
- If you have absolutely nothing better to do, peruse My Blog
- Once in a blue moon, I post videos on YouTube
- Even more rarely, I play around with t-shirt designs
